Supporters of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) under the protection of the members of Asayish militias affiliated to the same party attacked on Thursday the headquarters of the two Kurdish parties (Kurdistan Democratic Party and Yekiti) in the city of al-Qamishli in the governorate of al-Hasakah. They also closed the offices of the two parties and assaulted their members.
The Kurdish National Council said in a statement about this issue: "the aim of PYD by these intimidating practices is to destabilize the region and suppress the political activity of the Kurdish Local Council which holds the Kurdish national project in "Syria's Kurdistan", as he said.
He explained that this act by PYD came to cover up its political and administrative failure. "We in the Kurdish National Council condemn these proactive and malicious acts and we stress that we are continuing our political action paying no heed to the savagery of the agency's authority on our struggle for the just cause of our people. We call upon the Kurdish and international forces to try their utmost to put an end to the anti-democracy and human rights policies of PYD", he added.
It is noteworthy that similar actions took place in the areas controlled by the Democratic Union party north of Syria, represented by kidnapping and beating the opposed members of the parties of Kurdistan as well as burning and closing the offices of the parties of the Kurdish National Council in a number of cities and towns.
