Baladi News – (Saleh Al-Abdallah)
The factions of the Syrian Resistance achieved prominent advances on the southwestern front of Aleppo city during the previous few days, liberating about 20 sites of the Syrian regime and breaking the siege on the eastern rebel-held parts of Aleppo.
The Syrian regime forces responded by denying the victories of the rebels through their media and taking revenge on civilians.
Concurrently with the fierce battles in the southwestern part of Aleppo city, the war forces of the Syrian regime and Russia were conducting dozens of airstrikes on the liberated areas in Aleppo and Idlib governorates, which caused dozens of casualties and huge destruction to the infrastructure and vital facilities.
In Idlib western countryside and Aleppo eastern neighborhoods, intense airstrikes were conducted during the battles in the military academies complex in Ramouse. The airstrikes, which resulted in dozens of wounded people, aimed at causing as big damage as possible to the nurturing environment of the resistance factions, especially that civilians reacted well with the battle of breaking the siege on Aleppo by burning tires to prevent targeting the residents and rebel fighters and arranging demonstrations in celebration of the advances of the resistance factions.
At the same time, the liberated governorate of Idlib underwent dozens of airstrikes by the Russian war forces and few ones by the Syrian regime. Saraqib city alone was targeted with more than 50 airstrikes that caused huge material damages as well as mass displacement of the majority of residents.
Idlib western countryside also had a share in the Russian airstrikes. Most importantly, the Russians targeted Millis hospital, which destroyed the building completely and caused more than 10 victims and dozens of injured people, mostly women and children.
Media Denial
The Syrian regime media still confirm to its followers that “their brave” army is still thwarting terrorists’ attempt heroically, denying either gaining control over the military academies or breaking the siege on the eastern areas of the city, but no single regime-allied media outlet showed any footage from inside the academies. Meanwhile, hundreds of videos were posted on social media showing the Syrian resistance fighters inside the academies and Jaysh al-Fatah soldiers meeting with the factions inside the previously besieged areas during the first moments of breaking the siege.
The Syrian resistance went further by showing aerial recordings showing the events of the battles and the Syrian regime forces, as well as their supporting militias, escaping from the area, not to mention the videos showing dozens of the regime canons and military vehicles seized by the rebels.
A huge difference was observed between the coverage of the Syrian Resistance and the regime in terms of media. Meanwhile, the rebels documented their news with videos, the regime media was unable so prove any of their stories with evidence.
Clearly, the regime and the Syrian resistance are dedicating huge media mobilization for the battle of Aleppo, because both of them realize that the one who captures Aleppo would have the upper hand in the Syrian battle. Due to this importance, the regime forces and their allies followed a policy of slow-paced and gradual capturing of areas one after one over a long period of time until they could completely blockade the eastern areas of Aleppo on the 17 July. However, in seven days only, the Syrian resistance factions could thwart what the regime has been working on for years.
