The city of Aleppo was subjected in last July to a military escalation by regime forces, the Russian ally, and the supporting militias on ground, as they all violently bombarded the city using all kinds of weapons; from artillery, "surface-to-surface" missiles, warplanes, and cluster bombs, targeting the schools, buildings, and the densely populated markets. The biggest focus was on the hospitals which most of them went out of service. Moreover, dozens of massacres were committed leaving behind hundreds of martyrs and casualties.
Head of the Information office of Civil Defense, Ibrahim al-Haj, said in an interview with Baladi News: "Regime forces and their Russian ally have dramatically stepped up their bombardment in July on the hospitals and medical points, which caused most of the city's hospitals to go out of service, in addition to committing dozens of massacres against the civilians concurrently with the weakness of civil defense capabilities due to the siege laid by the regime forces and their supporting militias on the city along with our great lack to the fuels which run the working mechanisms. The bombardment had been going on day and night and with all kinds of weapons, starting from airstrikes by regime's warplanes, barrel bombs, "surface-to-surface" missiles reaching cluster bombs. Furthermore, a number of civil defense members have been killed and dozens wounded, in addition to the destruction of a number of headquarters and vehicles".
Member of the Syrian Institute of Justice, Ahmad Muhammed, told Baladi News about the regime's crimes by saying: "July is one of the bloodiest months and most massacres against civilians, as the warplanes have frantically stepped up their bombardment on the residential buildings by using mainly the internationally banned cluster bombs which resulted in the death of several martyrs and casualties among civilians, journalists and medical staff. 567 civilians were killed, including 144 children, 60 women, 3 personnel of civil defense, 4 doctors and paramedics, 5 members of relief and service bodies and 2 media activists, due to the bombardment with 1289 barrel bombs by helicopters, 1684 air-to-surface missiles by warplanes, 22 phosphorus bombs, 183 cluster bombs, 5 long-range surface-to-surface missiles and 32 short-range missiles".
Concerning the areas that have been targeted, Muhammed added: "the bombardment targeted 20 archeological areas, 86 public roads, 7 service and civil centers, 5 schools, 12 mosques, 6 civil defense centers, 1 bakery, 26 industrial areas, 22 hospitals and dispensaries, 1196 residential areas, 6 popular markets, 585 agricultural areas".
It's noteworthy that Russian warplanes had primarily focused their bombardment on the hospitals and medical points that are existed in the city of Aleppo and its countryside which caused them to go out of service.
