Baladi News – Damascus Countryside (Tarek Khawwam)
In intense airstrike by the regime war planes on Midaa, al-Maydaani and Hosh Nasri in al-Marj of Damascus countryside, the only civil defense center in the area went out of service. The airstrikes, which were carried out on Sunday, destroyed the building as well as its cars and wounded a number of workers.
The official speaker of the Civil Defence Department, Mahmoud Adam, told Baladi News that “this is not the first attack against the civil defence workers. Rather, they have been targeted constantly since August 2015. ”
The speaker indicated that the civil defence in all the Syrian governorate lost more than 127 workers due to bombardments and airstrikes by the Syrian regime, including more than 33 from Damascus countryside alone. Those workers died during achieving their humanitarian duties due to direct attacks against them by the Syrian regime air forces and artillery heavy bombardments.
It is noteworthy that al-Marj area is witnessing an intense airstrike campaign in an attempt by the Syrian regime to control the whole area, which caused the displacement of 3000 families towards the besieged cities and towns of the eastern Ghouta.
