Who Won: Darayya or al-Assad?

Ahmad Abdul Ghani, Baladi News

Darayya the small city located on a humble geographical area in the southern part of Damascus, proved that having faith in the cause of territory, religion and honor is more powerful than any weapon no matter how big or huge its impact has become. Darayya the forbearing and steadfast city which has challenged the mightiest criminal regime in the world that has consistently destroyed it and tried to break its will, but it's still resisting and fighting with the bodies of its sons who have vowed to continue their struggle till they gain freedom or die with dignity on the soil of their pure land.

The city of Darayya which it's fault was being one of the first rebellious cities to support its brothers in Daraa, Homs, Aleppo, and Idlib, in addition to its proximity of the military Airport of Al-Mezzeh and the headquarters of the 4th Armored Division. The Syrian regime and its allies wanted to humiliate this town and subject its people, so it started besieging it, prevented all means of life, arrested, killed, bombed and destroyed, but all these acts made its people more resilient and determined to continue the path of liberalization and going further in resisting all methods of terrorism followed by the Syrian regime.

Because it was a dagger in the regime's flank south of Damascus, and because besiegement failed to humiliate its people, the Syrian regime started bombarding the city with barrel bombs on a daily basis, no place in the city was left without being hit by a shrapnel or even destructed, so it was called "the City of Barrel Bombs". It deserved this title as it remained steadfast against the barbaric bombarding machine which has destroyed hundreds of its houses and neighborhoods and killed hundreds of its people.

After al-Assad's hopelessness in breaking its will by bombardment, the ground assault has started and the regime's tanks began to be crashed on the threshold of Darayya, as its people have achieved the finest braveries inflicting the regime's brigades  more loses in lives and materials, where hundreds of the regime's soldiers were killed and dozens of tanks and minesweepers destroyed. Still al-Assad is trying to break the defensive frontlines and tightening the siege more, as it has managed to, after months of bombardment, killing, and battels, cut the road connecting Muadamiyat al-Sham and Darayya and succeeded in securing the fronts of Muadamiyat al-Sham through reconciliations and aid entering. So Darayya has become alone fighting the aggression and challenging it till this hour.

With the protracted siege, the lack of possibilities and the continuous attempts of advancing on the southern and western fronts of the city, regime forces have eventually managed to advance some meters inside the rebel's strongholds and controlled a block of buildings on the southern front. Then, their media machine started to prepare for the victory of al-Assad and that Darayya has fallen and the battel has become a matter of time only. Despite all that, the heroes of Darayya are still defending the land they believed in its soil's sanctity which was irrigated by the bloods of theirs martyrs.

Darayya today is facing the strongest military campaign after the regime has brought many fifth columns from the southern fronts and prepared them to break into the city, amidst many pleas from media and revolutionary bodies to rescue Darayya before it's too late along with igniting the fronts of the south which their stillness for more than five months was of the most prominent reasons of Assad's success in tightening the noose of besiegement on Darayya, especially the fronts of "Triangle of Death" among Daraa, al-Quneitra, and Damascus countryside. those fronts if ignited are to reduce the pressure on the people of the city of Darayya and help them to remain steadfast.
