Private field sources in the city of Darayya west of Damascus confirmed the rejection of regime forces, represented by the "4th Armored Division" led by Maher-Assad, to negotiate with the Free Syrian Army in the city concerning thousands of civilians trapped inside the devastated neighborhoods, following the success of the regime and its militia of controlling dozens of agricultural lands which were the lifeline for the besieged during the past years.
"Muhaned Abu al-Zein", the field activist, said in a speech with Baladi News: "The 4th Armored Division refused to negotiate with the FSA regarding the civilians' file who are now facing difficult living conditions. It also refused reaching a state of appeasement with the FSA, indicating that the Syrian regime has informed them with its intention to proceed its drastic war paying no heed to the civilians and their destiny".
Abu al-Zein confirmed that the city's rebels are determined to withstand against the most ferocious campaign, led by the Syrian regime and its militias, after refusing appeasement and choosing the military action. The choice of "Martyrdom operations" is a strongly open option on the scene today, noting that dozens of FSA militants are ready to execute such operations in exchange for preserving the city and its besieged people.
"Regime forces and their pro-sectarian militias have advanced during the past few weeks into the agricultural lands to fully control the majority of these lands reaching the outskirts of the devastated city", the media activist added.
The field activist pointed out that losing the agricultural lands means depriving the civilians form the food resource which accompanied them during the past years. The greatest danger lies in besieging the women, children and hundreds of families in a small geographical area which means that one barrel bomb is enough to kill a great deal of them.
The area lost by the rebels in favor of the Syrian regime and its pro-militias reaches, according to the source, two kilometers from the western and southwestern part of the city and that the agricultural resource would be completely over, whereas the people suffer from severe food shortages as well as basic medical materials.
Abu al-Zein said that: "The majority of families trapped inside the stricken city are living today in the cellars fleeing the barrel bombs and the elephant destroying missiles, while fighting for a living is still the most serious weapon which threatens the destiny of thousands of besieged civilians totaling seven thousand civilians."
