Eid al-Fitr Disappeared and Torn Between "SDF" and "ISIS" in Manbij

Nizar Hmaidy, Baladi News, Aleppo's countryside

The rituals of Eid al-Fitr disappeared in the city of Manbij in the eastern countryside of Aleppo which is witnessing violent clashes between "ISIS", that is currently controlling the region,  and Syrian Democratic militias "SDF" which is trying to regain control over it.

From the very morning, dozens of shells on the city were recorded along with the spread of "ISIS" snipers on its outskirts to prevent civilians from leaving. The city's markets and commercial stores are witnessing a state of massive standstill as the basic needs and foodstuffs are about to finish which increased their prices and made many residents reluctant to buy them for not having enough money.

Ahmad abu Hmaid, one of the city's besieged men told Baladi News about the festival's atmospheres by saying: "How can I think about the festival in these circumstances?! What is really matters for me is what  will happen to us after one hour?".

"There is no electricity in the city and not even the necessities of life as high prices are prevailing: water is coming to houses once a week amidst a scorching summer where temperatures have risen to the highest levels, let alone the lack of fuel that may be used for the extraction of groundwater."

Abu Hmaid also noted that the health sector in the city is suffering from complete paralysis so any individual is likely to die once injured by flying fragments, where there is no doctor in the city, not even a drug, as the siege and injustice witnessed and experienced by the city destroyed everything.

About a quarter million people are living in Manbij, facing the risk of death due to starvation, siege and bombardment practiced by SDF militia which is besieging  the city or by the international coalition aircrafts that are supporting SDF.

It should be noted that SDF have managed to impose an absolute siege on the city since the tenth of last June, where the population suffered from the injustice of ISIS members who have taken control of the city since the beginning of 2014.
