This is the sixth time Eid al-Fitr comes since the breakout of the Syrian revolution with more pain and grief over the loss of beloved ones who were imprisoned or died after being targeted by a warplane's missile, barrel bomb, sniper's bullet, or even starved to death due to the stifling besiegement regime forces are imposing on the rebellious Syrian people.
The festival came carrying the heartbreaking memories of the martyrs' mothers, children, and families who were targeted by the Syrian regime and its massacres against the unarmed civilians. Such memories weighed heavily on them and made them reminisce the images of their beloved who they wished to be there and share the happiness of the festival which turned into a deep grief with their loss.
This is the sixth festival that comes while the Syrian all over the world are suffering more destruction, massacres, and murder which have significantly escalated this year, especially with the beginning of the Russian intervention in favor of the Syrian regime through committing hundreds of horrendous massacres against the rebellious people. Furthermore, bombardment and killing operations are still underway disregarding the sacred month and the blessed Eid al-Fitr.
The festival passes while tens of thousands of displaced people are still yearning to return to their homes from which they were displaced and forcibly deported by acts of bombarding, killing and besiegement practiced by regime forces to be ended up in the Diaspora camps north of the Turkish border to reach the desert camps and refugees' camps scattered along the southern border with Jordan, Lebanon amidst the great suffering and extremely difficult humanitarian conditions, especially with the absence of basic services and the inability of the internal organizations to provide the most basic needs of the displaced, particularly on the Jordanian and Lebanese borders.
With the last hours of the month of fasting and the approaching of the festival's Takbirs (Allāhu Akbar= Allah is the Greatest), you see the Syrians are looking for that close and far festival which removes their grief by dropping the most notorious repressive regimes in the world, which killed, abandoned and committed atrocities in their own country. Their festival become real by overthrowing the regime, then joy and smile will spread over Syria which will come into blossom free from Al-Assad governance.
