Baladi News – Omar al-Jabali
After her participation in a marathon that was hosted by al-Sweida governorate in the south of Syria, actress Sulaf Fawakherji was awarded a prize in recognition of her “art and humanity”, which made both of her and the prize a subject of ridicule.
It is unknown for sure what humanitarian attitudes qualified Fawakherji for such a prize, especially that her mask, like many other Syrian actors supporting Assad, fell off in the beginning of the peaceful movements against the regime. Fawakherji is known for her various attitudes that are void of any humanity. Rather, such attitudes were in many occasions savage, sadistic, and illogical.
Since the outbreak of the "revolution of dignity" in Syria, the actress has considered that “what is happening in Syria is not a revolution” and used very nasty words to describe the rebels during her TV interviews and on social networks. She insisted that she supports Bashar al-Assad, claiming that no president bombs his own people.
In addition, Fawakherji is known for her incitement to murder the Syrian people. One time, she appeared in a military suite in Safita city, accompanied by soldiers from the Syrian army. She is also the one who came up with the much ridiculed phrase, “we will confront terrorists with bare chests”! and more, Sulaf stated that she was proud of Bashar al-Assad’s deeds, ignoring all his massacres against the Syrian cities.
Sulaf Fawakherji was, and is still, part of the regime and its media, who propagandized for the regime before and after the revolution. She played several roles claiming to be dealing with social issues, but indeed, such roles were merely a way for releasing tension among the dissatisfied people of Syria. The most prominent of her roles was probably “Samaher” in the series “Wilada Min Al Khasira” (The Birth from the waist), in which she underwent torture by the head of an intelligence institution. The series was broadcasted in the beginning of the revolution, which made Syrians astonished at the contrast between the actors’ roles in the series and their attitudes towards the revolution in the real life.
Sulaf Fawakherji, who was indifferent towards homeless, displaced, and killed children by the Syrian regime and its “brave army”, exposes the fake images of many Syrian actors in the era of Assad as mere pawns that he plays with to defend his regime and crimes.
Now, Assad’s regime honors Sulaf Fawakherji in appreciation of her role in his media, which use all human and financial capabilities to improve the image of the regime and show it as a democratic regime that saves minorities and fights against terrorism.
