Several pro-Syrian regime Facebook users shared photos of Russian girls who reportedly came to the Syrian coastal cities from Hmeimim airbase, the main headquarter of the Russian forces in Syria.
Syrian regime allied media pages also added “selfies” of civilian and seemingly Assad-recruited youngsters with young Russian girls, which were said to have been taken in the city of Lattakia.
Commenters considered such a phenomenon as an imitation of the activities of a society called “Sabaya al-Attaa” (girls of generosity). These girls appeared in many pictures hugging Russian military pilots to express gratitude for their fight against “terrorism”
The society is considered a very prominent informal body that receives unusual support from major military and security figures of the Syrian regime. It is comprised of more than 30 thousand girls, most of whom are wives and daughters of officers at the Syrian army and intelligence, while the remaining ones belong to capitalist families of merchants from Aleppo, Damascus, Homs, Hama, and Lattakia.
Dozens of girls from rich families who have close relations with “Assad’s Family” in Lattakia, Damascus, and Homs made a visit to Hmeimim airbase in order to “honor and celebrate with” the Russian military pilots in the presence of Russian military and scientific figures.
The visit was under the patronage of Sabaya al-Attaa society, which is headed by “Alia Kheir Bik” who belongs to a family that has close relations with Assad’s family and holds the Russian citizenship.
It is noteworthy that the official Facebook page of Alia is filled with selfies of her, as well as other girls in the society, taken with Russian military pilots. The photos also captured parties held at the Russian airbase in Lattakia and attended by prominent figures.
