A Syrian young man, who had been forced by security forces to fight for Assad’s army, attacked a regime checkpoint in Damascus countryside using grenades.
However, pro-regime media changed the whole story, claiming that “A Syrian Arab Army checkpoint captures a terrorist cell while trying to go past it in Al-Qutayfah in Damascus countryside.”
A few minutes later, Assad’s supporters started mocking the regime story, wondering, “How could a fully armed terrorist group attempt to enter Al-Qutayfah city through the biggest checkpoint in the country during daylight.”
A couple of hours later, the full details of the incident cleared out. Regime supporting sources confirmed from Tartous that what happened in Al-Qutayfah was a grenade attack by one of the checkpoint soldiers against the inspection room and the chief office, which killed brigadier general “Abdullah Ali”, anonymous lieutenant, and the attacker.
The sources confirmed that the attacker was a Syrian young man who had been forcibly conscripted to fight in the ranks of the regime forces. They added that he launched the attack after tension with the checkpoint officers.
Syrian regime social media pages indicated that the road between Homs and Damascus was blocked for several hours the unprecedented attack against such a checkpoint.
After announcing the death of the brigadier general and lieutenant, a Syrian regime supporter commented, “That hero was unfortunate. He did not have enough time to enjoy the extra 15 dollars that were added to his salary. He must be happy now after his honorable service during which he had not accepted any bribes from soldiers for allowing them to absent”
