Baladi News – Damascus (Hussam Mohammed)
The policy of naturalizing Iraqi militants, as well as their families, has become one of the most important fundamentals of the demographic change pursued by Assad’s regime. Such a policy aims at replacing indigenous people, who had been expelled by force, with militants from the dictatorial regimes in the region, including Tehran and Baghdad regimes, which were previously involved in such policy.
Networks responsible for such naturalization operate in Damascus and receive full support from Syrian governmental departments, starting from the Fourth Armored Division led by Maher al-Assad, brother of the regime president Bashar al-Assad, and not ending with the offices of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, which provide and legalize documents that convert the mercenary into a Syrian resident.
“Omar Iyad Rasheed Alamadaiqi” was a fighter in the Syrian regime, but some of his documents show that he originates from Karrada district in Baghdad and that he entered Syria through Al-Yaarubiyah border crossing.
It is unknown whether “Omar”, which is a Sunni name, was the real name of the mercenary, but his family name, Alamadaiqi, suggests that he belonged to a Shiite family that has prominent presence in the Iraqi Shiite Liwa al-Imam al-Hussein (The Imam Hussein Brigade).
Such details were uncovered when rebels in Darayya killed the mercenary a few days ago and took his documents. Omar was recruited in the ranks of the Fourth Armored Division, although this division is often exclusive for trusted Alawites, and then he was provided a weapon license. Unlike Syrian citizens who fear detention, kidnapping, or killing by the regime forces, the Iraqi mercenary was free to move all around Damascus. Moreover, he was granted the national ID number 6178637, but it is unknown whether this was a new number or a number of a Syrian citizen who had been killed by the regime.
After that, and as if he were a Syrian resident, he was enlisted in the ranks of the Syrian army, under brigade 42, and was provided with all equipment and authorities to kill Syrians. However, it did not take long before he was killed by Darayya rebels who proved that Assad’s forged documents are not bullet-proof.
