Baladi News – Idlib (Mohammed Khudier)
Only few hours of calm after the extension of (al-Zabadani, Al-Fu'ah) truce, Russian war planes violated the ceasefire by resuming their heavy shelling on the city of Idlib on Monday, which killed and wounded dozens of civilians.
After the escalation by the Syrian regime and Russian war forces, the remaining families are considering escaping the city, which had become lifeless, to the surrounding villages.
Abu Mohammed, one of the residents said, “The city has become a ground for testing Russian and Syrian regime warplanes in full view of the whole world that turns a blind eye to the hundreds of casualties.”
The speaker added that “Most of Idlib city residents fled towards farm lands in the countryside. We used to host displaced families from Aleppo, Hama, and Lattakia, but the shelling turned the city into a ghost town.”
It is noteworthy that Monday was the first day of extending the truce of (al-Zabadani and Madaya – Kafraya and Al-Fu'ah), after the end of its six month period. However, a lot of reports indicated that the regime and the Russians committed innumerable violations of the truce, perpetrating dozens of massacres in Idlib city and countryside.
