Baladi News – Idlib (Mohammed Karkas)
The city of Idlib is witnessing a major migration movement after the intensified shelling by the Russian and Syrian regime air forces that killed more than 50 citizens and wounded dozens others.
Most of those emigrants are heading towards already crowded surrounding villages and farms to pass the night among trees, which threatens that a humanitarian crisis would happen if the situation continues.
A distress call was sent by Idlib Provincial Council to all humanitarian organizations to provide urgent relief to the displaced families from Idlib before summer heat rises with the beginning of Ramadan month next week.
Abdu Mousa, the representative of the relief office in Killi village in Idlib northern countryside, said to Baladi News: “Dozens of families came to us from Idlib, escaping the airstrikes. We lodged them in school buildings and provided them with relief aid, but the situation is out of control and we need more assistance”
Meanwhile, the official of Violet Organization clarified to Baladi News that “The number of displaced people rose to 50 thousand, but we could only reach 5 thousand of them and provide them with blankets, relief aid, and water.”
The speaker added, “We are trying to avoid the disaster but if it continues like this, we will call on other international organizations to respond to the crisis.”
