Three Syrian teenagers saved a drowning Turkish man on the Bosporus off shore of Istanbul's Beşiktaş district.

The boys spotted the man, Abdülkadir K., who had been swimming but began treading water and exhibiting signs of distress around 9 a.m. near the Beşiktaş-Üsküdar Ferry Port.

One of the boys, Mahmut, who knew how to swim jumped into the water to save the man by grabbing him and bringing him closer to shore. However, even with the help of his two other friends, the boys could not carry the man out of water.

Meanwhile, the police officers at the nearby Prime Ministerial Office, noticing the incident, came to the rescue of the man and pulled him out of the water.

Abdülkadir K. was brought to a nearby hospital in Şişli for an examination.

"The man was swimming but then he began to struggle. We jumped in the water to save him, and ambulances came later and took him," one of the boys, Abdullah, said.
