Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps Start Sending Women for “Jihad” in Syria

Baladi News – Damascus (Mohammed Anas)

Iranian cities, particularly the capital Tehran and the Shia holy city of Qom, witnessed the distribution of leaflets in front of mosques and in the street proclaiming that Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) opened the door to Iranian volunteering women for performing “Jihad” in Syria.

To be qualified for “Jihad” against “Takfiris” (expiators) in Syria, a volunteer must be characterized with the ethics and decency of “Sayyeda Zaynab” (daughter of Rashid Caliph Ali and first Shia Imam).

No comments were made by Iranian officials on the leaflets that mentioned that the aim of this “Jihad” is to defend the shrine of Sayyeda Zaynab, as sending women to fight in Syria is considered a scandal for the guard corps that had previously accused the Syrian opposition of exploiting women in the revolution without tangible evidence about such a claim.

The proclamation confirms that the Iranian guard corps seek to motivate more volunteers to go to Syria after incurring dozens of casualties among its elite troops there, particularly in the recent battle against Jaish Al-Fatah which resulted in the death and capture of a lot of Shia militants.

Exploiting women by Shia militias in Syria is not incidental, but it is at the core of the Iranian combat doctrine. Iranian women participated before in “non-combat Jihadi” activities in the ranks of what was called “Zeinabiyat” battalions in Iraq as indicated in some photos of leaflets distributed in the past.
