Regime forces seized control of parts of the southern sector of eastern Ghouta on Thursday morning after fierce battles with the rebels in Damascus countryside.
Syrian regime besieged the towns of the southern sector, including Deir Al-Asafir, Zabdin, Housh Al-Dwair, Bayad, Harasta Al-Qantara, and Yala, in addition to Al-Rakabia and Housh Al-Houmsi, while the rebels are repulsing the regime's attempts to advance on other military fronts. A large number of civilians in the southern sector are repulsing shoulder to shoulder the regime's attempts to advance in the region.
Regime forces announced last Tuesday imposing its control over the villages of Bzina and Noula which are located on the axis of Deir Al-Asafir town under ongoing military attacks aiming at separating the southern axis of Ghouta from its northern one.
Many people of eastern Ghouta hold the military factions responsible for the loss of the southern sector accusing them of infighting among each other since the 28th of last April.
The southern sector is considered the main source of food of Al-Ghouta as it contains vast agricultural lands.
