Kinan Sultan, Baladi News, Al-Hasakah
Two civilians were killed today due to the explosion of a landmine in Al-Bousalman village of Al-Shaddadi city in the southern countryside of Al-Hasakah governorate.
Ibrahim Habash, the media activist told Baladi news that Jabal Abdul Aziz, Al-Shaddadi, and Al-Hawl regions in the countryside of Al-Hasakah are considered the most dangerous areas due to the proliferation of landmines which were used by the two parties (Syrian Democratic Forces and ISIS) in their fighting.
"I have documented the deaths of more than 45 civilians, including children by the landmines, in addition to monitoring dozens of exposed mines in Jabal Abdul Aziz and Abyad Road ", he added.
It's noteworthy that Syrian Democratic Forces backed by the coalition air force advanced in the southern countryside of Al-Hasakah and seized control of Al-Shaddadi area last February after clashes with ISIS, where the two parties depended heavily on landmines in their fighting.
Syrian Democratic Forces who are currently seizing control of the region have ignored the existence of such mines and haven't even tried to dismantle of remove them despite the fact that they had planted a large number of them.
