Rebels liberated on Tuesday morning four checkpoints of the regime forces after fierce battles between the two parties in the southern countryside of Hama.

Hakam Abou Rayyan, the media activist and member of Hama's media center said in an interview with Baladi News: "Rebels have managed to liberate the checkpoints of Al-Kittar, Al-Binayat along with its eastern part, and Al-Midjana in the vicinity of Harbanafsa village and killed more than 10 members of the regime forces as a preliminary outcome".

"The rebels have also destroyed two tanks and seized another in addition to several SUV vehicles fitted with machine guns, light weapons and assorted ammunition, stressing that liberating the thermal station is a matter of time", he added.

The battles continue between the two parties in an attempt by the rebels to make a new progress amidst the utter collapse of the regime checkpoints on the outskirts of the thermal station located northeast of Harbanafsah.

Rebels had, a few days ago, succeeded in liberating the town of Al-Zarah and repulsed several attempts by the regime to re-seize the town, resulting in heavy losses in lives and materiel.
