Baladi News – Aleppo (Ziad Al-Halabi)
Since the beginning of the Syrian revolution, the Syrian regime, supported by the Russian forces, has followed a systematic approach of destroying the infrastructures of the revolting cities to weaken the nurturing environment of the rebels. The regime has also committed horrible crimes against medical specialists in Aleppo, including arrest, enforced disappearances and extrajudicial executions.
Despite the lack of equipment and specialist staffs, hospitals and medical points have been a vital factor in the resistance of rebellious areas. Therefore, they have been a main target for the raids of the Syrian regime and Russian air forces. MSF documented 94 air strikes as well as artillery attacks against 63 medical facilities in 2015, killing 81 medical workers supported by the organization.
Baladi News prepared a list of hospitals, dispensaries, and medical centers that went out of service after being targeted by the regime forces either with ground-to-ground missiles or with air strikes and barrel bombs:
- Al-Quds Hospital.
- Dar al-Wafaa Dispensary in Masakin Hanano
- Abeer Sasila Hospital in Tariq al-Bab neighborhood.
- Zahi Azraq (al-Hamyat) Hospital in al-Halk neighborhood.
- The Central Hospital in Masakin Hanano.
- Yaseen al-Jabban Hospital (Masaken Al Baladiya) which was moved to Masaken Hanano neighborhood before it was shelled.
- The Polyclinics in Masakin Hanano neighborhood. After the destruction of the majority of hospitals and clinics, the few remaining medical specialists opened number of makeshift hospitals that barely provide first aid due to shortage of equipment, medicines, and medical staffs. A threatening situation that indicates of a near humanitarian crisis.
