Several days after being wounded in the city of Duma, the only remaining gynecologist in Eastern Ghouta of Damascus countryside, “Nabil Daas”, died on Wednesday due to the infighting between Jaysh al-Islam on the one hand, and Al-Rahman legion as well Al Fustat Army on the other.
In an earlier statement for Baladi News, activist “Ibrahim Al-Dimashqi” said that Dr. “Daas” was struck with a bullet from an unknown source inside his house in Duma, indicating that the doctor had refused to leave this blocked area and travel abroad preferring to stay and provide the possible treatment to the patients. Dr. Nabil Daas was born in Duma in 1978, where he finished his primary, elementary, and secondary education. Then, he joined the Faculty of Medicine at Damascus University, graduated in 2002, and pursued his specialization at Duma Hospital. Until his death, the doctor had continued practicing his profession in Duma as well as the hospitals of Eastern Ghouta, particularly after Duma Specialist Hospital went out of service due to the shelling by the Syrian regime forces.
The clashes among the rebels factions in a number of the cities of Eastern Ghouta caused the death of nearly 250 people including civilians and fighters.
