Detainees of Hama's central prison ended on Monday their rebellion which lasted for 8 days protesting against the storming of what's known as "Safekeeping Units" into their cells in order to execute the death sentence on a number of detainees.
Abou Al-Muntasir, one of the prison's detainees said: "After negotiating with the regime for 3 days, we ended our rebellion with a great victory where we were able to set 72 detainees free and 50 others will join them later. We were also able to keep our mobile phones to guarantee the safety of the liberated detainees in exchange for releasing 9 members of regime forces, including an officer who we detained at the beginning of our rebellion".
Another source reported to Baladi News that a verbal agreement was reached between the detainees and the regime's representatives which included ending the rebellion in exchange for bringing electricity, water, food and medicine back to the prison along with releasing all the detainees whether those following the field court in Saidnaya or terrorism court including the ones who were already sentenced. The source also pointed out that the regime has vowed to consider all the detainees' files and to release a number of them every day.
The agreement also included that the regime will not prosecute any of the liberated detainees or deport any of them to security branches or prisons outside Hama along with preventing the regime forces from entering the prison next Saturday which is the day when the regime is supposed to be done with releasing all the detainees.
