Baladi News – Aleppo (Ziad Al-Halabi)
Escaping from the fierce battles between rebels and ISIS on the one hand, and from anti-ISIS air strikes by the Russians and the international coalition on the other hand, hundreds of families fled ISIS-held areas in the eastern countryside of rebels-held areas of Aleppo this Wednesday.
Firas Moula, a media activist following up the case, said to Baladi News, “This Wednesday, hundreds of displaced families arrived in Azaz city, coming from Aleppo eastern countryside, Deer Al Zour, as well as Iraq”
He adds, “We can no longer accommodate any additional displaced people, because our three centers are already full and unable to receive any new arrivals.”
Firas also clarified that several displaced families spend the night at mosques. This is aggravated by bad health services and lack of tents for lodging the refugees.
“Since ISIS started its attacks against the villages of Aleppo northern countryside, Azaz have received nearly 2,000 people. All that we can provide are collective tents, each of which can accommodate ten people, rather than individual tents for each family,” the activist concludes.
The safe rebel-held cities of Aleppo northern countryside have received thousands of people displaced since ISIS started its campaign against the area. Some of these refugees either went to the cities of the western countryside through Afrin town or crossed the borders to Turkey despite the difficulties. Meanwhile, the very poor ones went back home.
