In bloody rituals, PYD, the Kurdish Democratic Party, affiliated to the militant Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) celebrated their “victory” by maiming the bodies of Syrian martyrs. The members of PYD put the martyrs' bodies on a big truck and wondered the streets of Afrin city holding their flags and yelling savagely celebrating around the truck.
PYD social networking accounts posted a video of the truck with the bodies on it claiming that those fighters belong to al-Nusra Front. The accounts also claimed that they were killed while trying to seize back Ain Dekneh and al-Bailouneh villages which the PYD had taken over last February under Russian air strikes' cover after threatening to destroy the villages over the residents. However, many sources have confirmed that the martyrs belong to many Free Syrian Army factions along with many civilians from the two villages.
This is not the first time we witness the brutality of the PYD. Although it has always tried to introduce itself as a “secular” party that respects human rights, the party did insult the bodies of victims several times by repeating the same acts of the regime and Iranian militias. The party is supported by Russia and the US, where Russia provided the party with air cover during their operations to take over some villages in the northern countryside of Aleppo.
Despite all the horrific acts of the PYD against human rights, the party still gets the American and European support under the pretext of fighting ISIS. Human Rights Watch accused the PYD of committing violations of human rights in Syria such as, “recruiting children, violating the rights of detainees and having unfair trials”. The organization also mentioned in its report that those accusations were all documented. Moreover, the latest reports of Amnesty International said that the PYD is practicing “Forced displacement and demolitions” which considered as “ war crimes executed by the self-management of PYD".
