Eight fighters of the Kurdish People Protection Units were killed Saturday by Turkish artillery shelling which targeted an ammunition depot and several tunnels in the city of Azaz, in Aleppo's northern countryside, Fadel Lahmouni, a commander in the fifth corps of the Syrian National Army said to Baladi News.
Lahmouni added that Turkey's U.A.Vs have observed the tunnels a long time ago, and that the Kurdish Units attempted to dig tunnels which lead to the city of Azaz in Aleppo's northern countryside.
Since the beginning of 2016, the Kurdish Units alongside with the Assad regime forces took control over many towns and villages in northern Aleppo, following an offensive they launched on the area with the support of Russian warplanes.
The Kurdish Units occasionally try to infiltrate from Tal Rifaat into the National Army's positions in the areas of "Euphrates Shield" and "Olive Branch".
