Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) is transporting tons of grain that was stored in warehouses and silos near the Turkish border to a former American base in Raqqa province, Zaman al-Wasl newspaper reports according to a reliable source.
The place was equipped to be a storehouse for placing the grain.
While the site was equipped to hold ten times the amount, the source said that only about 85 grain pyramids have been transported so far.
After SDF burning hundreds of acres of land belonging to the Arab population in its area of control, farmers were forced to sell their crops of wheat and barley, buying a kilo of wheat for 160 SYP and a kilo of barley for only 100 SYP. In fact, SDF has allocated $200 million for 2019 to buy agricultural crops after it rejected the regime’s attempt to collect and buy them.
The newspaper adds that the source emphasized that SDF collected these crops in silos and warehouses under its control, to sell the surplus to regime, opposition areas, or perhaps Iraq, at double prices to make millions of dollars.
