Russian reinforcements arrive from rural Raqqa to Qamishli airport

BALADI NEWS

Russian forces dispatched military reinforcements to Qamishli International Airport, north Al-Hassakeh, Thursday, within the process of reinforcing its presence in the region.

The reinforcements which included dozens of armoured vehicles and trucks, were brought from the town of Ain Issa in Raqqa's northern countryside, to Qamishli airport which became a Russian military base, Russian media sources reports.
Russian forces took control over Qamishli airport on October 21, following the U.S. troops withdrawal from the U.S. bases in al-Hassakeh.
It is noteworthy that Russia and Assad regime forces have entered the areas controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) northeast of Syria after an agreement struck with the SDF leaders to stop the Turkish military operation Peace Spring.

On October 9, Turkey launched its third military operation which aimed to both push back the US-backed Kurdish militias such as the Peoples’ Protection Units (YPG) and SDF from the Turkish-Syrian border and establish a 32 kilometre-deep safe zone to house around two million Syrian refugees.
