At least seven civilians were killed in Russian airstrikes on residential areas in the de-escalation zone of Idlib, Syria, the civil defense agency in the civil war-weary country said on Friday.

The White Helmets said 10 others were injured in attacks targeting the town of Kafar Roma and the village of Al Bara in northwestern Syria, according to Andolu Agency.

According to the Syrian opposition's aircraft observatory, Russian warplanes targeted the villages of Eshtabraq and Marj al-Daher.

Syria Response Coordinators Team said at least 50 civilians, including 15 children, have been killed in Idlib province by the Syrian regime and Russia in two weeks.

According to the local monitoring group, 1,538 civilians, including 424 children have lost their lives since Turkey’s deal reached with Russia late 2018 in Sochi.

The Idlib region, which is home to some three million people including many displaced by Syria's eight-year war, is controlled by the country's former
