Assad regime announces resuming operations in Idlib

BALADI NEWS

The Assad regime forces have announced Monday resuming the military operations in Idlib, accusing the Syrian opposition factions of violating the truce agreement in the de-escalation zone.

This announcement came within a statement released by the General Command of the regime forces.

“Armed terrorist groups, backed by Turkey, refused to abide by the ceasefire and launched many attacks on civilians in surrounding areas,” state news agency SANA reported the General Command as saying.

“The armed forces will resume their military operations against terrorists,” it said, ending a truce in the northeastern province announced on August 1.

The statement accused Ankara of ignoring its commitments in regards to the Sochi agreement.

On Thursday, in conjunction with Astana peace talks the Assad regime has agreed on ceasefire in Idlib, in condition of implementing the Russian-Turkish agreement of Sochi, which states creating a buffer zone between the regime forces and the Syrian opposition factions.

Russia has welcomed Assad agreement on the ceasefire.
