Fifteen civilians have been killed and many others injured on Tuesday during an air landing operation conducted by the US-led coalition and in cooperation of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in eastern Deir Ezzor to arrest a leader of ISIS.
"The ISIS leader Hassan al-Ibrahim refused to surrender and started shooting the attacking forces, which led the coalition forces to shell his house," Deir Ezzor24 news network reported.
The shelling resulted in the death of 15 civilians and the injury of many others, the network pointed out.
Clashes took place before shelling his house and led to the death of an SDF member and the injury of 2 others.
In March, the Syrian Democratic Forces announced that the Islamic State was defeated after taking control over its last stronghold in the town of Baghouz, in the east of Deir Ezzor. Since then, the coalition's troops conducted several air landing operations claiming that they are chasing ISIS sleeper cells, but during such operations dozens of civilians where killed.
