Syrian Regime Brings Massive Military Reinforcements to Hama Countryside

BALADI NEWS

The Syrian regime brought on Monday massive military reinforcements of heavy machinery, forces, in addition to military and logistic equipment to the northwestern countryside of Hama province, as the opposition announced shelling regime and Russian positions in the area with Grad rockets.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights mentioned Monday potential attacks by the regime and loyal militiamen led by “Suhail al-Hasan” with the support of Russian forces.

The Observatory said the possible offensive aims to regain control of areas lost by the regime to the opposition and militant factions in Hama, which borders the flashpoint province of Idlib, the last opposition stronghold in Syria.

The monitoring group said that despite launching several military attacks, regime forces and their allied militias have failed to regain control of the villages of Tal Meleh and al-Jabin, which were taken by the militant groups and factions on June 6.

Russian forces have recently backed the Syrian regime in targeting the villages with thousands of air and ground strikes, without achieving any military progress.

A military leader from the Turkish-backed National Front for Liberation told the German news agency that opposition factions attacked Monday three positions of regime forces and their allied groups.

“Opposition forces directly hit the Russian Bridij military base with Grad rockets,” said the leader, who wished to remain anonymous.

He added that opposition forces also launched Grad rockets on a meeting of Syrian and Russian leadership in the town of Al-Jabiriyah in the countryside of north Hama, in addition to a regime-linked National Defense headquarters in the town of Suqaylabiyah.

“More than ten cars were seen leaving the military camp and Al-Jabiriyah town on Monday carrying victims from both sides,” the leader said.

Meanwhile, Turkey sent on Monday a military convoy of 20 vehicles and a personnel carrier to Shir Magar Point in the western countryside of Hama.
