Clashes between the Fifth Legion backed by Russia and the Iranian militias in southern Aleppo Friday, led to the death of many members of both sides.
Reliable sources reported that the Fifth Legion has put up several barracks in the southern entrance of Aleppo city, to prevent the Iranian militias and Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) from entering the city.
This comes after hours of fierce clashes between the two sides near Aleppo International Airport, which resulted in the death of seven fighters, the sources added.
Iran has increased its military readiness at its strongholds in the eastern neighbourhoods of the city, while the neighbourhoods of Al-Bab, Al-Shaar, and Hanano residences have witnessed mobilization of Russian and Iranian militias.
In March, the Iranian militias prevented a Russian military patrol from passing by the Iranian base of Jabal Azan in Aleppo's southern countryside, which caused tensions between both sides.
