Turkey will not withdraw from any observation point in Syria under any circumstance, a reliable source told Baladi News, pointing out that the Turkish government will defend the buffer zone in northwestern Syria despite the continual airstrikes waged by Assad regime and Russia, the guarantor for the buffer zone agreement.
In a related context, Anadolu Agency quoted Turkish Defense Minister Khulosi Akar as saying: "Our contacts with Russia are continuing to achieve stability and cease fire in Idlib as soon as possible."
Analysts say that Turkey's stance is supported by EU countries which fear that the military escalation will lead to new refugees influx in Europe.
On May 8, a Turkish military convoy entered the Syrian territories through Kafr Lucin border crossing towards the observation points, and it consisted of more than 50 armoured vehicles.
