Loud blasts echoed across Damascus late on Friday, residents said, as Syrian state media reported “enemy targets” coming from the direction of Israel, which has previously acknowledged conducting repeated strikes inside Syria.
The state television channel showed footage of the night sky with a point of light firing up into it and the sound of shooting, and reported that air defences had brought down some objects. It did not immediately report casualties or material damage.
Local sources in Damascus countryside reported that several positions of Assad regime in the area of al-Kisweh and Jaraman have gone under rocket attacks.
The attacks targeted positions of Iran and Hezbollah militias, including the First Division in al-Kisweh which is a centre for the Iranian Revolutionary Guards (IRGC,) the sources added.
Noteworthy that Israel waged several airstrikes at the beginning of current month against Iran's militias' positions in the outskirts of Aleppo, which led to the death of dozens of Iranian militants and destruction of rocket warehouse.
Israel is worried that through their fighting in Syria, Iran has transferred weapons and skills to Hezbollah that might eventually be used in a war against it.
