Russian forces arrested 11 Iranians in the Syrian province of Tartous on charges of wiretapping the Russian base of Hamimim, a Kurdish news website reported Saturday, quoting Syrian media sources.
The Iranian who were running the wiretapping base, were arrested in the Sheikh Badr area in Tartus, west of Syria, according to the sources.
These Iranians "were hiding in a school, and all security interventions to know their fate were rejected," the sources added.
The Russian air force is based at the Hamimim military base in the town of Jabla in the northwestern Syria for several years.
Russian air force has been using the base since the beginning of the Russian intervention in Syria, 2015, to carry out attacks against civilians in all the regions of Syria.
