The YPG group on Monday attacked Turkish forces deployed in Afrin, northwestern Syria, Anadolu Agency cited Turkish officials as saying.
The Turkish army said no loss of life was reported.
A large number of YPG were killed in a security operation launched by the Turkish army, said local sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to fear of reprisal.
Terrorist positions were struck down in Tal Rifat, northern Syria.
The YPG continues to target Afrin from Tal Rifat, which has been occupied for more than three years.
