Kurdish Protection Units in the city of Ras al-Ein, al-Hassakeh, are preparing for an upcoming battle against the Free Syrian Army and Turkish forces by fortifying their positions, digging tunnels and launching campaigns of arrest against young men in the city for conscription.
The Kurdish units, have covered the main market of Ras al-Ein with shaders, to protect their members of being targeted by Turkish warplanes, "Al-Khabour" news website reported. They also brought concrete rooms to the border gate which overlooks the Turkish city of Gillan Pinar, according to the website.
The same source added that Kurdish military patrols raided the village of Aziziyah in Ras al-Ein's suburb and arrested several young men who were trying to escape to Turkey to avoid conscription.
Turkey insists on its right to launch a military operation in northern Syria -- Turkey's southern border -- to stop the expansion of the Kurdish Protection Units, which Ankara classifies as a terror group linked to PKK.
