A Turkish soldier was killed and one other injured in a mortar attack in northwestern Syria, Turkey's National Defense Ministry said on March 31.
Turkish soldier was killed in a mortar attack by the militants in the area where Turkey has conducted Operation Olive Branch to get control of Afrin town from the YPG and ISIS militants, a statement by the ministry read.
“Under the right of self-defense, Turkish security forces retaliated the terrorist attack with shelling,” the statement noted.
On March 2018 Turkish army waged the Olive Branch Operation where on the city of Afrin, northwestern Syria, where it took control over the city.
The Turkish Defence Minister announced on Saturday March 30, that Turkey has established an advanced military room for the joint operations, to conduct the probable operation against the terrorist targets east of Euphrates.
"We must end the presence of terrorists east of Euphrates because they are threatening our country, nation and borders, and endanger them," the minister said.
