The director of the media center of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mustafa Bali, said Friday that the Islamic State organisation (Daesh) has been militarily defeated and no longer controls any geographical areas, pointing out that one small group is still holed up in the rocky area of Baghouz and another near the Euphrates river.
In a press statements Bali stressed that SDF prefers the surrender of the remaining groups, and that the SDF view is identical with the coalition's."
"Small groups of Daesh refuse to surrender, they are waging attacks against us, but our forces respond, and push them to surrender of to stop the fight," SDF's spokesman, Adnan Afrin, said.
US President Donald Trump announced on Friday that Daesh has been 100 percent defeated in Syria, showing reporters maps of the region which was once under the control of the organization, and others maps showing the same region clear of Daesh on Friday.
