A number of Russian troops and members of the regime forces were killed on Sunday, in an ambush of the Islamic State (Daesh) fighters, in the Syrian desert between al-Sukhna and Deir Ezzor.
Six Russian soldiers and 16 members of the regime's Air Force intelligence were killed on Sunday in an ambush on al-Sukhna-Deir Ezzor road in the Syrian desert, the local "Jarf News" website reported.
The website wrote that Daesh fighters attacked a joint convoy of Russian forces and regime members in the desert, where members of Daesh are located, pointing out that Daesh members used jamming devices, which caused loss of contact with the convoy.
Following losing contact with the convoy, Russian and regime forces supported by helicopters, launched extensive search operations for the convoy, according Jarf News.
It's worthwhile that the Islamic State organisation conducts several attacks and ambushes in the area between Deir Ezzor and al-Sukhna, and targets Russian and regime forces as well as the Iranian militias, the result of which attacks was the death and disappearance of dozens of Russian, Iranian and regime soldiers.
