Twin bombings kill 16 people in Syria's Idlib

Baladi News

A double bomb attack on Monday in Syria's northwestern city of Idlib killed at 16 people, including four children, and injured at least 79 people including rescuers and volunteers in the Civil Defense, Baladi News correspondent reported.

The first blast was caused by an explosive device planted under a car in Qusour neighbourhood during rush hour, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

A motorcycle bomb then detonated after ambulances arrived at the scene of the first blast, said the group "SOHR".

The toll is still not final and the number of victims is likely to increase due to critical cases among the injured, many of whom have been transferred to Turkish hospitals, Baladi correspondent added.

The bombings caused huge damage to the infrastructure in the site, in addition to partial destruction in several buildings and burning of dozens of cars and motorcycles there.
