Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu announced the establishment of a joint task force between Ankara and Washington to coordinate the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Syria.
His statement came at a press conference in Washington, where he was there to participate in a meeting for the foreign ministers of the member states of the International Coalition to fight the terrorist organisation of the Islamic State.
Cavusoglu explained that the mutual proposals of the two sides will be evaluated in order to complete the withdrawal of US troops from Syria without any problems.
"The Turkish delegation was yesterday in Washington and it was agreed to form a joint task force to coordinate the US withdrawal from Syria, and I discussed this with my counterpart Mike Pompeo, who was positive about the proposal," he clarified.
He said that the Manbij roadmap is being implemented fast, despite the adverse weather conditions, pointing out the the Kurdish Units are still in Manbij, calling for expelling them form the region urgently.
"Turkey refuses to establish the determined buffer zone in Syria if it is intended to a buffer zone for the terrorists," Cavusoglu said in response to a question regarding the buffer zone in Syria.
He stressed that his country supports the buffer zone which will contribute to ease the Turkish concerns regarding these regions, pointing out that the idea of the buffer zone was first suggested by the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and was refused by the former U.S President Barack Obama.
