Turkish Defense Minister Khulosi Akar held a meeting with the Head of Intelligence, the Chief of General Staff and the Commander of the Ground Forces on the Turkish-Syrian border to discuss the situation in Idlib.
“All types of efforts have been made to maintain the ceasefire and stability under the Sochi agreement. Our close cooperation with Russia continues in this manner," Minister Akar said in a statement issued on Saturday.
The meeting discussed the situation in Idlib under the agreement of Sochi, and there was exchanging of views on the measures to be taken to maintain the ceasefire in Idlib, and to assure stabilization in the region, the statement added.
In 2017, Russia, Iran and Turkey reached an agreement known as the de-escalation zones, to reduce the fighting between the regime and the armed factions. In 2018, Turkey and Russia reached the buffer zone agreement in Idlib province.
