US evacuates first military warehouse in Syria

Baladi News - Agencies

The Turkish Anadolu news agency revealed on Saturday that the U.S. started the withdrawal from Syria by evacuating the first U.S. military warehouse near the Iraqi border, on Friday December 28.

According to a reliable local source, the U.S. forces vacated a warehouse in Malikiye in the northeast al-Hasakah province, the agency said, pointing out that the warehouse contains many depots where 50 U.S. troops were based.

The agency added that Hummer armored vehicles and trucks were sent to Iraq from the 400-square-meter warehouse.

The U.S. troops based around the warehouse also left for Iraq, according to the agency.

The warehouses have served as hubs for the distribution of U.S. materiel to the YPG group in northern Syria through Iraq, the agency indicated. The PKK affiliated YPG is considered by Ankara as a terror group, and Turkey intends to launch a military operation against it in north and east of Syria.

It's noteworthy that this is the first U.S. military batch to leave the Syrian territories after the announcement of the U.S President that his country's troops will withdraw from Syria, following what he called as the "defeat of ISIS."
