Clashes Between Syrian Regime And SDF Near Euphrates River

Fierce clashes took place on Tuesday between the Syrian regime forces and the Syrian Democratic Forces militant group (SDF) in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, Qasioun news agency reported.

Light weapons and anti-warplanes cannons were used in the clashes between the regime forces located on the Euphrates river shores in Mayadin city, and the SDF fighters on the opposite side in Zayban town. No further details on the clashes reported.

The general brigadier of the SDF, Mazloum Kobani, said during an interview with the Washington Post that the group is willing to hold agreements with Russia and Syrian regime to fill the gaps resulted from the US forces withdrawal from the area.”

“The US withdrawal from Syria was unpredictable, despite of the promises and commitments for u,” Mazloum added.

On Wednesday December 18th, U.S president Donald Trump announced that he was ordering the withdrawal of the 2,000 U.S. troops fighting ISIS in Syria, after declaring victory over ISIS.
