Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia was concerned because its Turkish partners have not been successful in Idlib.
"The situation in Idlib worries us too. We see that our Turkish partners have not yet managed to achieve everything [that is planned], but they are working,” he noted.
Putin's statement comes after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told Putin on Saturday he should hold another summit to discuss the situation in Syria’s Idlib province, where the two countries are trying to create a sustainable demilitarized zone.
Erdogan made the suggestion during a meeting with Putin on the sidelines of the G20 summit, according to Reuters.
Putin called on Friday leaders of the BRICS group who met on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Argentina, to play a more active role in the ongoing operations in Syria.
He said it was important to engage in the settlement process in Syria, especially in support of reconstruction plans in the country.
