Activists launch "Remove mask" campaign in Idlib

Baladi News - Media

On Saturday, Syrian activists launched a campaign on social media sites against the use of masks in Idlib province, a day after the death of two prominent activists, Raed al-Fares and Hammoud Janeed, by masked men who opened fire on them and fled.

The activists wrote tweets and posts, using the hashtag #remove_masks, calling for a ban on masks in Idlib due to the repeated killings of activists and Syrian opposition commanders by masked men.

Syrians said on social media that members of Hayyat Tahrir al-Sham were the most prominent users of masks in Idlib province. On Friday activists accused the group of killing Fares and Janeed, while there had been no comment as of Saturday evening about the incident.
