Fierce clashes took place in Aleppo between pro-Assad militias and Iran-backed Shiite militias, and resulted in the death of 85 people and the injury of another 110, the Yeni Safak newspaper published.
Former spokesman for Free Syrian Army (FSA) faction Jaish al-Mujahideen Zekeriya Mollahafchi described the clashes as an unofficial fight of demographics between Iran and Russia, the newspaper added.
The Assad regime has not intervened in the fighting.
Reports said that the clashed were a result of the groups being unable to share the areas captured by the FSA, which controlled 65% of Aleppo for five years.
Assad has promised the property of the opposition to the foreign fighters, the newspaper cited Mollahafchi as saying.
