Dozens of Syrians, who approached the Israel’s frontier fence on the Golan Heights on Tuesday (July 17), are still stuck nearby camps as no response came from any of the Israeli or international organizations to save them from the Assad regime and its allies.
At least 1500 civilian reached the Israeli frontier in an apparent attempt to seek help or sanctuary, but were warned off by the Israeli military.
The crowd stopped some 200 metres (yards) away where they were ordered by an Israeli soldier to turn back.
"You are on the border of the State of Israel... Go back before something bad happens," an Israeli officer on the Israeli side of the frontier told the crowd in Arabic through a megaphone.
The Assad army is pressing a Russian-backed offensive against opposition fighters in the area.
Israel has always warned that it will never allow Iranian militias establish a foothold near the Israeli border but the Israeli prime minister said last week in Moscow Israel would respect agreements if they were held.
