Entire cities in Daraa are empty of their inhabitants

Baladi News - Daraa

The Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS) asserted that over 350,000 people have fled from the ongoing shelling of cities and towns of Daraa.

It said that Hundreds of thousands of civilians gathered on the border of Jordan and Golan, and that this situation has led to a major humanitarian crisis in which people have limited access to shelter, water, and food.

Many are sleeping in the open air of the desert, exposed to the elements, or in over crowded makeshift tents. As well, in this region there are no medical centers or access to health care, according to SAMS.

The organisation added in its report that the towns of Daraa eastern countryside are empty of their residents, and called for the immediate stopping of attacks on civilians and medical facilities, and medical personnel, as well as facilitating the access of medical teams to the injured and those in need for medical care.

SAMS has deployed mobile clinics to camps and displaced persons to provide assistance to the largest number of patients in need of health care in these difficult circumstances.
